Miu Sakamoto (坂本 美雨, Sakamoto Miu) was born in Tokyo on May 1, 1980. She is the daughter of musicians Sakamoto Ryuichi and Yano Akiko. She has an older half brother named Futa. She is bilingual, knowing both Japanese and English fluently, due to her move to New York at the age of 9. She remained in New York until she graduated high school.
